From Fear to Freedom

This is the final version of a talk I delivered on July 31, 2022 at the Chautauqua Institution. An earlier version is just below, which I delivered at Neighborhood church in Pasadena. This video also includes a new poem I wrote called "A Few Miles From Fear to Freedom: A Semi-autobiographical Poetic Regret and Reset," a truncated reading of Rev. Dr. Kristen L. Harper's essay "A Theology of Darkness," and the sermon, which is re-titled "From Fear to Freedom."

Serenity Sermon Series

In a series of three sermons, I reimagined Reinhold Niebuhr's Serenity Prayer.

The prayer is usually recited as "God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Listen to a Jewish Humanist Unitarian Universalist consider these thoughts as I come up with my own interpretation I call the Fortitude Prayer.
